Florida questions, answered

Is Florida's tax-free weekend still just a weekend?

No — it's a full month now. State law sets the back-to-school holiday at July 20 through August 20 every year, covering clothing under $100, school supplies under $50, and computers up to $1,500.

Are hurricane supplies still tax-free?

Yes, and better than before: since August 2025, generators, batteries, tarps, fuel cans, smoke alarms, and other storm staples are tax-free year-round. There's no June window to wait for anymore.

Does the back-to-school holiday work on Amazon?

Yes — online orders qualify when the retailer accepts the order during the holiday for immediate shipment, even if the box shows up after August 20.

What happened to Freedom Month?

Florida ended it. The July holiday on outdoor and recreation gear didn't return for 2026 — some of its items moved into the new September–December hunting, fishing, and camping holiday instead.

Do computers qualify?

Yes — personal computers and related accessories priced at $1,500 or less qualify during the back-to-school month, as long as they're for home or personal use.
